The True Meaning Of Christmas

Pastor’s Corner: December 2017:

The True Meaning Of Christmas:

This month marks the celebration of the holy day of Christmas, when we celebrate the birthday of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. With the holiday fast approaching there is no doubt that we are looking forward to gathering with family, friends, and loved ones. We may drink eggnog, sing Christmas carols, or even share a loving kiss under the mistletoe. And it is a joyous occasion to be surrounded by the people you love. But let us not forget that Christmas has a deeper meaning. It is our remembrance of the birth of Jesus Christ. John 1: 14 states: Jn 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. God Himself was born and we celebrate His life because it means our life, forgiveness and salvation.

Many of us may focus on the gifts that we may receive but Christmas is really about giving and sharing with others. We can utilize the season to show our love by giving and sharing our many blessings with others. We can give a donation to the church or an organization that gives free toys with children in need. We can feed the hungry and clothe the homeless. We can invite someone to Christmas dinner who doesn’t have loved ones of their own. In conclusion, there is no Christmas without Christ and there is no Christ without love. John 3:16-17 says: Jn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Jn 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. Let us utilize the Christmas season to save someone else this month.

Sincerely,
