Our Pastors Corner was started by our Founding Pastor, Rev. Douglas Ferrell, and continued by our Second Pastor, Dr. Charles Mims, Jr.

Currently, our Interim Pastor, Rev. Willie D. Hall has been carrying on the tradition of addressing our Church Family, every first Sunday. if you are unable to attend our Weekly Church Services, we will be working on getting more of our previous issues of The Tab in .pdf form, and archived on our website here @

Our church is currently in the process of selecting a New Pastor for our church. Please keep the Tabernacle of Faith Baptist Church in your prayers, and lift up those chosen for the selection process. If you are interested in working with our Media Ministry please contact us, and submit your information to the Church Office.

“In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and
bulwarks. Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is
everlasting strength:”” – Isaiah 26:1-4

Rev. Willie D. Hall

To my Church Family,

God has blessed us to come through another month in which he has caused us to make progress in spite of the evil one who is always attempting to slow or stop progress; but I’m grateful to our God that we can rejoice and sing as Israel did in the 26th chapter of Isaiah. Just like they had a strong city, we have a strong Church. For more than 71 years God has used the Tabernacle of Faith to bless many in this community, city, State & Nation. Let us think on that 3rd Verse, “Thou wilt keep Him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee! Because He trusteth in Thee”.

As we wait & trust God to fill the Senior Pastor Position, let us just keep our hands in the masters Hand and keep our mind stayed on Him.

There’s a song that says “Into each life some rain must fall, and on last month we experienced some rain in our church in a Five day Period. We experienced some rain in the homegoing Services of 3 of our congregation. However, this rain has positive results on both sides. On our side we will miss them, but knowing their destination, makes our hearts glad. Because they were saved & sanctified. So we say so long on this side to Brother Arthur Livingston, Sister Hattie Ellis & Sister Earline Jackson. They are being welcomed home by loved ones and friends in that land where they all have been made whole, in that land of no more, no more pain, no more doctors, no more hospitals, no more medications, no more death. We thank God for each of them and pray that the Lord give each family member comfort in knowing they are safely home.

Summer is apply approaching and our children will be getting out of school. Let us pray that the Lord give them protection during the summer.

Finally, let us continue to keep our eyes on Jesus as we continue to pray God’s blessings on our sick, shut-ins, and all of the families that have experienced death in their family. Pray for our church & for each one.

May His blessings always be yours.

In His Service

“Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.  A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.” – St. John 13:33-34

To My Church Family

The blessings of the Lord are truly here, as I reflect on the closing Service for the month of February. I am still high on His Words and
Promises, as we remember the saying “When praises go up, blessings come down”. Having closed out February Service with “Praise Him”, I can still feel the blessings flowing. I rose from my bed at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday morning the 28th of February, and I returned home at approximately
3:00 p.m. still shouting about His blessings.

From the Early Morning Breakfast Program, we experienced His choicest blessings. The music was superb, spirits were high and to end with a feast that was fit for a Kings and Queens. Thanks to all who participated in the preparation, serving, and the clean up. God has some very special
people here at The Tab. I’m also happy to report that the Pulpit Committee is moving along at a very good pace. So let us continue to pray that God will continue to direct their actions, as we wait to see who God has chosen for the Tabernacle.

We are now in the 3rd month of 2016 and plans are coming together for a successful month.

There is a Women’s Conference scheduled for March 12th, 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. We begin daylight savings time on March 13th. We
observe the beginning of Spring when the trees began to put out new life. Palm Sunday and Resurrection Sunday where Christ announced “It Is
Finished! I’ve paid the price for man’s sin”. Let us reflect on His sacrifice for us, by praising Him at all times. Lastly, let someone know that the Lord is still in the Blessing business, and especially here at The Tab.

Finally, my brothers and sisters, let us continue to pray for our sick, shut-in, bereaved, for our President, Elected Officials, and our Country. May His blessings be continually yours

Our Dearly beloved “FAMILY and FRIENDS”

How swiftly these months are coming as we are now in the 5th month of the year 2011.  We thank and praise our risen Lord and Savior for having spared us to cross over into a coveted opportunity to be about our Lord’s Business, in WORD in ACTION in DEED and Godly Purpose.

On a somber note we have witnessed the homegoing of our own members and bereavement affected our Church Family.  Our prayers go out to those who experience an “empty chair” of immediate family and friends.

The past month was rich and rewarding in every way we closed the month on a high spiritual note with the “23rd Annual Women’s Prayer Breakfast” followed by last Sunday’s “Resurrection Service”.

The month of May is now before us, and we do solicit the prayers and support of every loyal member for all of our regular and special Services.  I do call your special attention to our “Annual Women’s Day Service” on the 3rd Sunday with our Sis. Chelsea Williams as the speaker.  Sis Florence Bean once again serves as the director of the Women’s Day Chorus.  All giving for the Women’s Day and all Annual Days is earmarked for our Building Fund.  We desire and ask that every loyal member support our Building Fund over and above Tithes and regular offerings.

I do want to encourage every loyal member to heed our Lord’s Great Commission to become a “Soul Winner”.  It is a personal task from the PULPIT to the PEW as followers of Christ.  It involves moving from mere MEMBERSHIP to DISCIPLESHIP.  Remember that our continuing goal is that each member become a “Soul Winner” in 2011.  Can the MASTER count on you??

Finally, let us continue to be in prayer for our sick and shut-in, infirmed and for suffering humanity everywhere.   Our thoughts and prayers also go out to those families affected by the “tornado activity” across the Southern states as well as the East Coast and the raging fires across the State of Texas … “The Lord is Speaking”

Faithfully Yours

Pastor Leffall

SPOTLIGHT ON YOUTH – Jason Weatherall

King Solomon, the author of Proverbs, writes:  “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6).”

Our spotlight is on a very talented young man, whom we are proud to present:  Mr. Jason Adam Weatherall, affectionately called “J” by family and friends.  Jason has been coming to the Tabernacle of Faith Baptist Church all of his life, where he and his family have been actively involved in all aspects of the Church’s work and activities for youth.   The Weatherall family consists of Jason’s father, Bro. Michael Weatherall, Sunday School teacher and Youth Church Ministry teacher, who himself was a youth pupil at The Tabernacle where he now teaches pupils where he once sat; his mother, Debra; brother, Lawrance; and two sisters, Kandis (who is away attending Norfolk State University in Virginia); and Kristy- a very fine family and well disciplined young people brought up with service-oriented Christian home training.

Jason attended Amestoy Elementary School in Gardena, CA;

Orville Wright Middle School (magnet school), Westchester (Los

Angeles, CA); and Banning High School in Wilmington, CA.  Jason said that his favorite subjects in school were Mathematics and English.  After graduation from high school, Jason attended and graduated from California State University, Los Angeles with a major in Television – Film and Media Studies.  He was the recipient of the following scholarships:  Governor’s Scholarship; Track and Field Scholarship; and our own Tabernacle of Faith’s Edna G. White Scholarship.  Jason is currently employed at the Health Services Academy (Teacher’s Aide)/Maranatha High School(Basketball Coach, Junior Varsity).  He said that in five years/ten years he sees himself teaching his own class or counseling and coaching.

Jason lists his interests as The Bible – his love of reading, studying and teaching God’s Word.  He is a sports enthusiast who loves basketball, football, track and field; and he has a love for food (he enjoys cooking and eating)!  Jason also plays the violin.  Jason said that the last book he read was Values of the Game by Bill Bradley, an inspiring book which discusses the formation of character on and off the court with such values as discipline, respect, courage, leadership, selflessness, and responsibility – to name a few.   In addition to his work and interests, Jason is also very busy doing volunteer work which includes Make-A-Wish Foundation; You Can Read (Elementary Reading Program); and Jason has served here at the Tabernacle over a large span of his young life.  During his pre-teen and teen years, Jason regularly made the Sunday School announcements and welcomed the visitors. Jason is currently a member of the Tabernacle’s Audio Ministry; he is Assistant Teacher of the Men’s Bible Class; a member of the Finance Committee; and a Deacon-in-Training.

Jason said that a favorite song that gives him strength, inspiration and encouragement is :  “Run Til I Finish” by Smokie Norful, gospel singer and pianist.  Jason gave his philosophical statement as:  “Why complain?  It doesn’t fix anything.”  He further shared regarding how he deals with peer pressure:  “I apply peer pressure by questioning it.”  Jason further stated:  “I consider my life to be a leadership experience; I have heard it time and time again ‘be careful of how you live, you may be the only Bible some people may read;’ With that, I have to lead the best possible life.”

To the proud parents:  father, Bro. Michael Weatherall; and mother, Debra, you are to be commended for a beautiful job well done!  Congratulations and blessings, Bro. Jason Adam Weatherall.  Your Tabernacle family is also very, very proud of you.  We salute you and thank God for you.  May the LORD richly bless you in all of your endeavors.

65th Church Anniversary

From our Pastor

What a milestone! What a joyous and spiritual celebration to be held!  The month of October 2009. The Tab’s 65th Church Anniversary.

You are invited to join in this celebration of 65 years of Tabernacle of Faith’s historical journey through time and into eternity.

Our Anniversary Theme and Scripture are:

Faith: A journey Through Time and Into Eternity (Hebrews 11:29  – 12:4)

Faith is the most prominent word in religion. It is often used to describe one’s entire religious persuasion. Faith can get lost in the shuffle of religious jargon and have little meaning in daily life. In 1944, America was at war, currency lost its value, the cost of living rose 17.6%, price controls were put in place, government spending was determined to be out of control at $91 billion, unemployment was 1.2%, the average yearly salary was $2,400.00. Yet there were 38 people who had a faith that would survive this time and organized a church and elected Rev. F. D. Ferrell as its Pastor. Their demonstrated faith has survived time and in October we celebrate 65 years of faithful service.

Serving along with me in planning our 65th year Celebrations and Services are Co-Chairpersons are Deacon Alvin & Sis. Jackolyn King.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor R. M. Leffall

Pastor’s Corner – August, 2009

Pastor’s Corner

“Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.”  – Psalm 119: 133

02 August, 2009

My dearly beloved “PARTNERS”  in The Lord’s WORK

Well, well here we are in the month of August, the 8th month of the year 2009.  We thank God that we benefited from His loving kindness above all “HIS TENDER MERCY”, to cross over to another coveted opportunity to till the soil in His fertile vineyard, and beyond the walls of the Church.  Yes, yes thank God for one more day, one more chance.  God is Good, and All the TIME, GOD IS GOOD.

The past month was spiritually rich and rewarding in every way, and more importantly, souls were added to our membership.  For certain, it was a most busy month highlighted by the following:

2nd Sunday – Graduates Recognition Sunday

Our Vacation Bible School

Our Annual Church Picnic

Our Annual Men’s Day Service.

The month of August is now before us, and we do solicit your unstinted prayers and support for our regular Services and special activities during this month.

We are in the countdown, for the month of October at which time we shall celebrate a milestone; Our 65th Church Anniversary Observance all month long.  Our dear members, Deacon Alvin and Sis. Jackoyln King, are Co-Chairpersons for this years 65th Church Anniversary.  Various Committees are now at work for the related Services and activities in connection with the Church Anniversary, i.e. Souvenir Book and the Anniversary Banquet.  We fully recognize that we are in tough economic times, but we have faith in our God who has been our “Help In Ages Past”, and our sure “Hope For Years to Come.”  We never could have reached this milestone without “HIM”.

Let us continue to be much in prayer for our many, many sick and shut in, our President, Our Country, and for suffering Humanity everywhere.  Beloved Keep the Faith – God Has the POWER,

Faithfully Yours,

Pastor R.M. Leffall, III
