” Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:.” –  Matthew 13: 5

My dearly beloved “FAMILY”

We greet you once more in the name of the King of Kings, our Lord , Savior, our Redeemer. He has spared us the cross over to a “brand new month”, May, yes, “One More Day”, “One More Chance”, one more Golden Opportunity to be about our Lord’s business in Word, Action, Deed and Godly Purpose. The pertinent is what shall we do with it? As or me, your “UNDERSHEPHERD”, I remain determined to LOVE GOD MORE, TO SERVE HIM BETTER; for only what you do for Christ will be counted in the end.

The month of April was rich and rewarding in every way. We had rich and rewarding Services and great times of fellowship, both with and beyond the walls of the Church. In the passage cited above, our Lord unfolded a parable about what happens, what develops, when the GOSPEL, the GOOD NEWS is sown in various kind of soil grounds. He concludes this parable, the earthly story, with a heavenly meaning saying “He who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the Word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit. What a reminder of both the privilege and the responsibility that accompanies our salvation.

Praise God for the seed of the gospel and the soil of spiritual growth. Our daily prayer ought be: “Lord, I would be soil in which You can plant Your Word with its promise of fruit; I want to be open to You every day, So what You have planted takes root.”

The month of May is now before us. We do solicit your prayer and support with TIME, TALENTS, MEANS (Tithes and Offering) to support the WORK of the Lord in the “household of Faith”. The month will be highlighted by “Mothers Day”, and of course our Annual Women’s Day Service on the 3rd Sunday with Dr. Sandy Scranton-Lee as our guest speaker. Our Cadre of Captains and Co-Captains ask that we rally together to support the financial appeal for Women’s Day. Just be prayerful, do your best, and God will bless the “Cheerful Giver” . A special and traditional part of Women’s Day is the naming of the Woman of the Year for 2013. We shall also be honoring Dr. Gwendolyn Smith-Taylor who served for many years in the Music Ministry of our Church.

I do, feel that it is necessary to correct some misinterpretation of my statement about “RETIRING”. For the record, I am still in prayer and when a final decision is made, when god directs me, the people of the Church will be the first to be informed in accordance with my “Pastoral Contract”. I am simply trying to prepare you for a “Pastoral Transition” because “due season of an appointed time” the station will be passed to another. Until then, just pray for me that I will follow God’s Lead.

Finally, let us be much in prayer for our students in the public schools, colleges or university. Our sick and shut-in, bereaved, caregivers and for suffering humanity everywhere. Also, let’s lift up in prayer, President Obama, as he gives leadership during these trying and most difficult times.

Be Blessed,
R.M. Leffall, III , Senior Pastor
